An awareness campaign · Morocco
Douar is an independent awareness campaign documenting Morocco's rural villages, cultural practices, landscapes and changing needs. Its Vision 2030 focus draws on publicly documented national priorities guided by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The Culture
Morocco's High Commission for Planning uses the douar as a unit in its 2024 rural census database. Behind that statistical unit are distinct communities whose histories and cultural practices should be recorded carefully and in their own words.
Douar Initiative will publish only material that can be traced to a named source, an official record, or documented testimony. Our purpose is awareness: to make verified rural stories easier to find without speaking on behalf of the communities featured.

It is not presented as the formal title of a single government programme.
